The Norwegian Road Museum, has been in operation for 25 years, and has put together a unique experience for the whole family. For the very first time, the public will be allowed insight into the exciting work that is being carried out at one of Norway's largest industrial technology museums.
Visitors will be able to study items usually kept in closed preservation cabinets. They will have the opportunity to explore hidden treasures from the museum's photo, film, map, and document archives. Exhibits will also cover national gems such as Kongevegen across Dovre and Kongevegen across Filefjell – a preservation project in which the Norwegian Road Museum is involved. There will be opportunity to learn about the role of archaeology in the understanding of Norwegian history, and how road building has led to many important archaeological finds. Visitors will meet the people who worked along the road, and get an insight into their everyday lives. A genuine museum workshop, where machinery and trucks from bygone days are being restored, will be open to the public.
