Canoeing and kayaking

Paddling is a family-friendly and idyllic way to explore nature, and is ideal for both young and old. The Lillehammer region, stretching up through Gudbrandsdalen, has numerous lakes and rivers perfect for canoeing or kayaking. Travelling in this manner provides easy access to pristine and exciting areas, without having to carry a heavy backpack. A fun and relaxing activity for families with children.  

Canoes: Canoes have plenty of room for equipment and are stable – an advantage if you have young children as they tend to sleep well on board and do not have to walk themselves or be carried.

Kayaks: Kayaks are quicker, lighter and ideal for trips, but do not have much storage space. In a kayak, you get very close to the water – as close as you can possibly get without going for a swim – and you will feel almost at one with the lake.
