Do you remember the Winter Olympics at Lillehammer in 1994? Wonderful days in February when the eyes of the world were focused on this little town by lake Mjøsa. Lillehammer is still a small, friendly town, renowned the Winter Olympics in 1994 and the 2016 Youth Olympic Games.

The Olympic spirit is still going strong. The arenas are in constant use, hosting everything from World Cups to children's ski races. As a visitor, you will have the opportunity to try some of the Olympic activities.

Lillehammer Olympic Bob- og Luge track

How do you feel about a trip down the bobsleigh and luge track at 100 km/h? The Bob- and Luge track is located by Hunderfossen, 15 km north of Lillehammer town centre.

Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena

Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena, built for the 1994 Winter Olympics, is located just above Lillehammer centre and is the town’s main landmark.

Ride the chairlift to the top of the largest hill, and enjoy the panoramic views of Lillehammer and lake Mjøsa (Norway's largest lake) – a great photo opportunity. With 80 000 ski jumps performed in winter and some 20 000 in summer, there is also a good chance you get to see one during your visit.

Hafjell and Kvitfjell Ski resports

Visit the Olympic alpine centres at Hafjell and Kvitfjell, and try the pistes where top alpine skiers competed for medals. From Hafjell, you will be able to see the famous Fakkelmannen – a figure of a man running with a torch carved into the forest.

The Olympic trail at Birkebeineren Ski Stadium

If you are in good physical condition, you should test your stamina along the Olympic 50 km cross-country trail at Birkebeineren Ski Stadium

Norwegian Olympic Museum

If you are interested in the history of the Olympic Games from 1896 to today, a visit to the Norwegian Olympic Museum is recommended. The Olympic museum at Lillehammer is the only one of its kind in Europe.
