Lillehammer's pedestrian street became famous during the 1994 Winter Olympics, and the charming wooden buildings create a beautiful framework for a shopping experience out of the ordinary. Get the bus or park your car in town, and take a stroll. You will find a multitude of speciality shops selling products not available from the standard high-street chains. For coffee or a snack, find a seat at one of the many welcoming cafés.
Lillehammer is also famous for its arts scene. In Fabrikken, the old factory premises, many artists have their ateliers, and you will be able to see them in action and buy their unique work.
If you prefer shopping centres, we recommend a visit to Strandtorget and its over 60 stores. The centre, located along the E6 by the turn-off to Lillehammer, is easily accessible by car.
You will also find local shopping centres with grocery stores, sports outlets and other shops at locations like Segalstad Bru in Gausdal, Øyer, Ringebu and Vinstra.
