Fishing

The majority of our fishing spots are at relatively high altitude. Trout is the most common species in the lowland lakes, but in the waters higher above sea level you will also find arctic char, perch and powan. The larger lakes and watercourses have more complex fish communities, and comprise a range of species. Among these are various types of carp as well as pike and burbot. Gudbrandsdalslågen and Mjøsa feature grayling and trout, and are ideal for sports fishing. The two rivers offer excellent opportunities for landing that big catch, and stocks of large brown trout present a challenge to even the most experienced angler.

Hunting

The Lillehammer region offers excellent opportunities for small-game as well as big-game hunting in a diverse and exciting area of great natural beauty. It is among the best hunting grounds in Norway, with plenty of small-game such as hare and grouse. Big-game, such as elk, red deer, reindeer and roe deer, is also available.
