Are you conscious of your responsibilities when visiting a destination? How can YOU contribute to protecting its unique aspects? Below are five excellent tips for how you as a visitor can help preserving the destination’s appeal and avoid negative impact. Tread carefully, and allow those behind you the same wonderful experiences!
1. Do as the locals do.
Experience and appreciate local traditions, nature and environments during your stay. Listen to what the local hosts recommend.
2. Eat and shop locally.
Many of our restaurants offer locally produced and/or homemade food and drink. Support the local community and its small suppliers, shops, and manufacturers by shopping locally.
3. Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Take recycling seriously, and reduce your food waste. Focus on energy saving. Leave the car behind – use your legs, bicycle or use public transport if possible.
4. Tread carefully in nature.
We are happy to share our wonderful outdoors with you, and hope that you will tread carefully and leave as little trace as possible. The right to roam allows us the freedom to experience and make use of our countryside and wilderness. This is something to which we are fully entitled, as long as we show consideration and follow the rules when out and about.
- Stick to the trails, and avoid creating new ones.
- Do not leave litter in nature, and remember to clean up after yourself.
- Respect the wildlife. Remember that there are periods when dogs must be kept on a leash.
- Lighting campfires is fine, but use established sites.
- You can pick berries, mushrooms, and plants for your own use.
- Fishing is permitted subject to purchase of fishing licence.
5. Respect private property.
Tents must be at least 150 metres from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. Camping on arable land is subject to agreement with landowner.
