About
"The smell of hay is still lingering, and above our heads is the solid framework of timber. Actors take to the stage, followed by ear-blasting and wall-rattling rock bands. Later, folk musicians and local artists perform. The barn pub is right next door, and artists cover every wall - -" (quoted from the local paper). With its 450 -people capacity, Fjostrevet (the main stage) offers an intimate atmosphere. In the barn pub, guests can enjoy light meals, and in the gallery purchase arts and crafts. Tryskarlåven (the threshing barn) has a 120-people capacity, and in Årestuggu (open hearth building) small groups can enjoy a get-together by the fireplace. Rudi Gard can be hired for special company and group events, and we can also accommodate 20 guests at Valseter by Gålå. In 2003, Rudi Gard had approximately 6 000 visitors. The farm was first mentioned in writing in a diploma from 1319, and it has belonged to the Rudi family for as long as anyone can remember. Øystein Rudi is a farmer as well as a fiddler, and as an artist he performs both nationally and internationally. His efforts have resulted in three national music awards. In 2003, Rudi Gard received a rural development and innovation award from the county and a cultural award from the municipality, and in 2004 the farm received the Gudbrandsdal Cultural Award. Rudi Farm offers concerts, shows, exhibitions and catering, and is a working farm situated in a well-preserved cultural landscape featuring a number of heritage sites.
