About

This large museum complex is located by Hunderfossen Adventure Park, north of Lillehammer, and comprises the Norwegian Road Museum, the Norwegian Vehicle History Museum, and the Norwegian Rock Blasting Museum. It is one of Norway’s largest technical industrial museums, and has several thousand square metres of indoor exhibitions as well as a large museum park.

At the Norwegian Road Museum, you get to learn how the road network was developed, about those who built it, and about those who have used it throughout history. As you read the inscriptions on a rune stone, you realise how important bridges were already then. You will meet a cheeky young coachboy and discover the farmers’ discontent when ordered by the king to work on the roads. Furthermore, you get the blow up a bridge – and if you look closely you will see a sunken Viking ship and rats running across a table!

The museum is open all year, and admission is free. It has a country store and café, and visitors can enjoy numerous family events including special activity programmes for Easter and the autumn and winter school holidays. There is also a special Christmas event with nostalgic shopping in the country store....Read More
