About
A visit to the top of Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena (Olympic arena, 1994) to enjoy the best views in town comes highly recommend (approx. 5 km). On an e-bike, the hills are a breeze to climb. Park your bike at the bottom of the ski jump and ride the chairlift to the top – or walk the 936 steps to the top and ride the chairlift back down. Alternatively, cycle to the top of the ski jump by following Birkebeinervegen and then turning left onto Kantvegen (the road between Birkebeineren Ski Stadium and Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena). To visit Birkebeineren Ski Stadium, continue straight ahead on Birkebeinervegen.
Return to Lillehammer via the same route or follow Nordsetervegen back down (some more traffic). A detour to Stampesletta, comprising Kristins Hall and Håkons Hall from the ’94 Olympics, is recommended. At the end of Stampesletta (Sigrid Undsets veg) you will find the Badedammen pond and river Mesna – a popular swimming spot.
For an added adrenaline kick, cycle to Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track at Hunderfossen for a wheelbob experience. The recommended route is via Fåberg and Hunderfossvegen, approx. 16 km in each direction.
