The village of Ringebu is located in the heart of Gudbrandsdalen, and is often referred to as Norway's smallest town. In this vibrant village you will find a wide selection of speciality shops in charming surroundings.
The village have a traditional market every Saturday from July to mid-August. There are stalls offering handicraft, second-hand goods and antiques, jewellery, paintings, coffee & waffles and more, in addition to entertainment. In 2011, Ringebu received a national award in recognition of its welcoming outdoor areas and meeting points. This traditional commercial centre was established in 1899, and has wide selection of speciality shops. Among them is Annis pølsemakeri – a butcher selling award-winning sausages and meats.
The village of Ringebu also offers a new and large playground for children. At the northern end of the village by the youth center there is an activity area for older children.
Landsbygalleriet Ringebu is an open-air, all-year-round exhibition open 24 hours a day, and offers its visitor an active cultural experience. On the walls of selected buildings in the village centre, you will find unique works by local Ringebu photographers, and also by a visiting photographer. The images are changed four times annually, and thus act as dynamic decoration for the village.
