About

The Norwegian Postal Museum at Maihaugen shows Norway’s exciting postal history.

Learn how important the the postal service has been to develop our country in the exhibition «Post on the Way» in the Postal building in the Town section of Maihaugen.

The exhibition deals with postal history throughout more than 360 years, from the time when letters were sent with a courier up to today’s information society with e-mails and sms-messages.

The first floor shows historic post offices and short movies. The 2nd floor takes you through exhibitions of postal history. Postmen, their means of transportation, their weapons for defence – it is all to be found here.

The Postal building and the train are open in the summer, and are included in the entrance fee of Maihaugen.
