About
Pekka Stokke’s art project with the title “-=0=-” is a light installation comprising a temporary main piece at Felleskjøpet’s grain silo and a permanent display on the wall inside the Climate and Energy Laboratory.
The laboratory’s sensors measure radiation from the sun, heat production, wind speed, energy production, temperature, and several other parameters, and form the basis for the programmed light movements of the installation. Data received is scheduled and sent to the artwork’s control system, which in turn play light-effect sequences and combinations to create new expressions based on changes in weather conditions and climate. There is wireless communication between the control system and the light installations on the silo, where string lights, strip lights with colour diodes, and large floodlights are used to create palettes and animations. Steel elements have been made by industrial technology students at Otta upper secondary school where also the laboratory is located.
Pekka Stokke is a visual artist, and works mainly with lights; the way in which light in various contexts can transform our perception of physical spaces and patterns.
