Special December light
Enchanting surroundings and unique adventures are queuing up as you arrive. The region will treat you to a good old-fashioned white Christmas and a very special light that has attracted artists for decades.
Take a stroll in the open air, and experience the amazing light. Maybe a pair of snowshoes will make the trip extra exciting? If you are really lucky you will catch the sunset.
The Children’s Farm decorated for Christmas
With the farm fully decorated for Christmas, Mrs. Claus has made plenty of porridge and cordial, the little elves have gathered rabbits and guinea pigs in the barn for everyone to have a cuddle, and Santa is looking forward to receiving visitors!
The Children’s Farm is open on 4 – 5 December, 11 - 12 December and also on 29 – 30 December for those who would like some fresh air after the Christmas rush.
Unique experiences on snow
Few destinations can match the number of snow-related activities on offer. Bring your family along for a dog sledding experience with a team of six Alaskan huskies, and end the adventure with some delicious local bread prepared in the BBQ hut. At Sjusjøen Husky Tours, dog sledding trips are available throughout the Christmas holiday period.
For even more speed and excitement, try tobogganing and bobraft at Lillehammer's Olympic arenas. Between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Kanthaugen is open for tobogganing from 11.00 to 16.00 and the bobsleigh track is open from 12.00 to 17.00. Read more about bobraft here
Spectacular cross-country ski trails are available throughout the region, and can be enjoyed 24/7. Miles and miles of groomed trails of world-class quality await you.
Another exciting Christmas holiday activity is racing down the many pistes at the alpine centres. Slopes for all skill-levels are available.
Lillehammer at Christmas
Lillehammer is a charming little town with an urban feel. In December, the famous pedestrian street is decorated with garlands and thousands of Christmas lights. Behind the beautifully lit and decorated windows are shops to explore and welcoming restaurants and cafés to visit.
