"Experience the Ruten massif (1617 m a.s.l.) from every angle. Espedalen, Gålå, Fefor. Opportunity to visit Helvete. Starts at Ruten Fjellstue or Dalseter Høyfjellshotell, and continues via Elgtårnet (elk observation tower) in Espedalen and down to lake Olstappen. Follows Olstappen to route 255 and then back to the starting point. From Ruten Fjellstue or Dalseter Høyfjellshotell, head south on route 255 through the entire Espedalen, past Helvete and across Dritua, and down to Øvre Svatsum. Turn left by Orvollen and continue north on the steep mountain road (Børkdalsvegen) past lake Håkåsetervatnet, up to lake Valsvatnet, and down to lake Gålåvatnet. This is the ideal spot for a break before you turn left onto Gålåvegen. Follow this road for just under 2 km, then turn left again and continue until you reach lake Vollsdammen. Turn left towards Fefor. At Fefor, the road continues as Peer Gyntvegen – a stunning mountain road. Follow this past Lomseter and Hattdalsseter, and then back to the starting point.
