Every year, the Lillehammer region plays host to everything from World Cups and other large spectator-based sports tournaments with up to 15 000 participants to cultural events of national and international interest.   

Experience great international sports stars in action – every year 

Amongst the annual events are both the Alpine World Cup at Kvitfjell and World Cup Nordic in Lillehammer. Join as a spectator, and see great international sports personalities in action. 

Alternatively, reach your own big or small goals as participant 

The three annual Birkebeiner races – cross-country skiing, mountain-biking, and running – attract thousands of participants. These are events the whole family can enjoy, and during which Lillehammer town centre is teeming with both adults and children. Furusjøen Rundt is a triple-race – cross-country skiing, mountain-biking, and running – in spectacular scenery and with Rondane as backdrop. 

World-class cultural experiences 

Peer Gynt by Gålåvatnet is a theatre performance staged annually as part of the Peer Gynt Festival held in late July / early August.
