First Hotel Breiseth is a charming hotel in downtown Lillehammer, situated by the railway station in close proximity to the city’s inspiring pedestrian area. Established in 1898, it is one of Lillehammer's oldest hotels. 

The history of the "Lillehammer Painters"

In the early twentieth century, the hotel was associated with the so-called Lillehammer Painters, who painted, hosted soirées and stayed at the hotel. Many of them paid for their stay with their own artworks, and the hotel is today adorned with many beautiful paintings, and the hotel has several well-kept living rooms with paintings by famous Norwegian painters.

A block away, you will find Lillehammer Art Museum.​ The museum is one of the nation’s leading art museums, and houses a collection consisting of approx. 1400 works by Norwegian artists dating from the 1800s and until today. During winter, the region transforms into a snow-dusted wonderland with Norway’s widest offering of alpine and cross-country skiing. And the ski bus stops right outside the hotel! Lillehammer is also a cultural city with highly acclaimed museums and festivals
