About
At Sygard Grytting we aspire to provide a cuisine which reflects the surroundings in order to create more holistic experience. Our aim is to serve the very best in home-cooked food based on local traditions and specialities. Most of the produce used is from our own and other farms in the region, and we always start from scratch.
Our dishes are based on meats like lamb, elk and reindeer as well as fish from mountain lakes. Soups and gravy are made from real stock. We serve specially selected lamb from our own farm, accompagied by organic potatoes. The desserts are usually made from berries and fruits from our own garden. Other treats are "sø" and "kål" - traditional soup dishes. Bread, crisp bread and cakes are made on the farm, and all jams are produced here as well.
Menus will vary according to the season. In summer, overnight guests can enjoy a three-course dinner in Spisestugu (the dining hall) at 7 pm. For weddings or other large functions, we use Høgstugu (the hall). In the medieval inn, we welcome groups for a medieval-style breakfast and supper.
