Probably it was on the journey through Gudbrandsdalen that Ibsen was told stories and poems about the local Per Gynt from Vinstra. He started his journey by train from Oslo to Minnesund, then he took a steamship to Lillehammer. Every year you can experience "Peer Gynt" at Gålå, inspired by Ibsen's journey.
