About
Trail leading from Krokhølen in Synnadalen (800 m) and up to the top of Spåtind (1414 m).
If you aim is to reach the high mountain, the Krokhølen – Spåtind trip is ideal. The climb to the top is 10 km, with a 600 m elevation gain – from around 800 m at the starting point to 1414 m at the top. After 2 km, you have reached the tree-line and will have the mountain in front of you. If in luck, you get to see herds of reindeer grazing in the area.
Despite the elevation gain, the trail is relatively easy to ski. There are only two to three hills where herringbone climbing is required. If you are reasonable fit, the trip to the top takes 2-3 hours. Due to harsh weather conditions, trail grooming rarely starts before the winter holidays. Hence, the trip is at its most popular during the winter and Easter holidays.
If the weather is good and you feel fit, an option is to continue down to Lenningen and then back to the hotel across Skjervungsfjellet and down to Krokhølen. The full distance is then 50 km.
