With this concert programme, the listener is invited into a meditative universe through the world premiere of Kristin Bolstad's new work, where minimalism meets mantra music and drone metal, and where there is an insistence on dwelling on details long enough for transformations to emerge. This prepares the listener to experience Penderecki's masterpiece, which can be described as an intense late-Romantic powerhouse, somewhere between Richard Strauss and Dmitri Shostakovich on steroids. The work creates a truly distinctive energy in the space, allowing the audience to experience chamber music at its most raw and uncompromising.
